WHAT IS IIMC?
The Institute for Indian Mother & Child" (IIMC) is a nongovernmental voluntary organization, committed to promote child & maternal health, literacy and education.
IIMC was initiated in 1989 by Dr. Sujit Kumar Brahmochary, with the mission to give medical support to the poorest and most backward people of West Bengal, India; people who otherwise would have no access to basic healthcare and medical facilities.
Today, IIMC has expanded its activities to include Medical Program, Health Education & Health Promotion Program, Network Program, Education & Sponsorship Program, and integrated rural developmental projects including women economical empowerment though Micro Finance Banking Program and Agricultural Program.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED?
VOLUNTEERING: IIMC- Norway has the opportunity to send 2 medical volunteers to Kolkata in each of the summer months; July, August and September. It is very relevant to apply during your preclinical years of studies. Deadline for applying is 15th of March each year. If you want to apply, send an e-mail to

SPONSORING a child (100zl/month or 200NOK/month). Many children need financial help to get the opportunity to go to school.
DONATIONS (Any sum is greatly appreciated).
This gives an opportunity for those that wants to support the organization without having to volunteer or sponsor a child over a longer period
